Chesapeake is located on the eastern coast of Virginia on the Atlantic Intercoastal Waterways and is the 2nd largest city (by land in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Home of the Dismal Swamp, we are part of what we call the Seven Cities of Hampton Roads which are all relatively close together: Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Hampton, Newport News, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach. We are surrounded by several military bases particularly the United States Navy where the largest Navy Base in the world resides at nearby Norfolk and the Top Gun Naval Fighter Squadron resides in nearby Virginia Beach. Baseball is one of the favorite pasttimes here particularly in our neighborhood (Jolliff Woods where 90% of the boys either play now or have played on a State and National winning AAU travel team. Several current major leaguers have come from this area to include; David Wright - Mets, Michael Cuduyer - Twins, Ryan Zimmerman - Nationals, BJ Upton - Rays, Justin Upton - Diamondbacks, Mark Reynolds - Diamondbacks. We have several colleges and universties in our area as well: Old Dominion, Virginia Wesleyan, Norfolk State and Hampton University to name a few.
