La Porte means "The Door" in French which I believe means a door to a wonderful quaint town with wonderful people and an awesome new Mayor elected in 2011, 28 yr old Blair Milo. Blair is working hard to bring this town back to its glory days for people. I'm the Fundraising Chair for the Worthy Women Recovery Home, the first ever in La Porte County. The Founder, Daniela "Sonshine" Troche has made this home her life mission to help these women. Sonshine has a very rough life herself and overcame this and turned her life around to help others. The WWRH mission is to provide recently incarcerated women with re-entry programs and the tools necessary to reduce recidivism rates, substance abuse and addictions, and to empower them to live as positive role models for their children and in their community. We purchased a home in Sept 2011 and have paid this off. The house had to be totally gutted because of leaks and other problems. Now we need help to get everything back together and get help started for these women (up to 14 at a time. We are fundraising all the time but it's just not happening fast enough. The Sioux City metro area covers three states, Iowa, South Dakota, and Nebraska. Community leaders and citizens try to cooperate and support each other as much as they can while dealing with three states' different regulations and funding.

Though not hit as hard as many communities along the Missouri (or in Minot, ND, there have been too many families whose homes are being damaged and destroyed. Few have flood insurance because flooding on this scale was never predicted. I think our community would benefit greatly from having the Crashers come when the waters recede later this summer and help even just a few people bring some beauty to their homes again.

I live in Romulus, MI very close to Metro Airport. I live in the Avalon Meadows sub division where the yards a massive.

In the last five years this side of town has been developed it is warm, it is a vacation spot, 5 min to Sea World and a torist attraction, the River walk is a fun place for families and is about 20 min away. Everyone in our town is very friendly
