La Porte means "The Door" in French which I believe means a door to a wonderful quaint town with wonderful people and an awesome new Mayor elected in 2011, 28 yr old Blair Milo. Blair is working hard to bring this town back to its glory days for people. I'm the Fundraising Chair for the Worthy Women Recovery Home, the first ever in La Porte County. The Founder, Daniela "Sonshine" Troche has made this home her life mission to help these women. Sonshine has a very rough life herself and overcame this and turned her life around to help others. The WWRH mission is to provide recently incarcerated women with re-entry programs and the tools necessary to reduce recidivism rates, substance abuse and addictions, and to empower them to live as positive role models for their children and in their community. We purchased a home in Sept 2011 and have paid this off. The house had to be totally gutted because of leaks and other problems. Now we need help to get everything back together and get help started for these women (up to 14 at a time. We are fundraising all the time but it's just not happening fast enough. Albuquerque is a city with a rich, Spanish heritage mixed with Pueblo and Navajo influences. New Mexico has been around for three centuries and, though the golden cities Coronado sought may have been exaggerated, the state is truly beautiful, surprisingly varied in its geography, and utterly enchanting. Between the deserts and the mountain and the extraordinarily colorful sunsets and the crystal clear nights, people are attracted to New Mexico because they can spend quality time outdoors as well as enjoying their indoor spaces.

What's not to love about San Diego! Great weather, great food, surf, beach, good people. Oh, I know, one thing: housing! When you're like us and buying our first home you have to choose between WHERE you want to live or HOW you want to live. We chose where over house so we have a fixer upper. It's bones are really neat but it needs a major overhaul. Come help us! With seventy miles of beaches you'll have tons of fun in the off time too I promise!

Houston .. the 4th largest city in the U.S. and the largest city in the State of Texas. Home of the world's largest healthcare and research institutions - Texas Medical Center and NASA's Johnson Space Center. A global city with a population of approx. 2.1 million people. Houston was named after General Sam Houston who had commanded at the Battle of San Jacinto. Houston attracts more than 7 million visitors a year because of the many cultural institutions, exhibits, museums, performing arts and more. It has several major airports. I live in the Brentwood Subdivision of Houston which is a mere 15 minutes from the Texas Medical Center.

Glenside is home to the Keswick Theatre, a small theatre rich in history. Glenside every July 4th is reported to be the largest such parade in the greater Philadelphia area. Arcadia University is located in Glenside and features the national historic landmark Grey Towers Castle.
