Down to Earth
with Cabin...

Pick a cabin, and start imagining, this would be...., a warm, pleasant place to hang out in, or what ever you can imagine. Write your own Cabin story to go with the Dream Cabin you like. Be as creative as you like.
My story would start out like this:
I am the lady of the house, and I got up early this morning. With the house full of the kids because of a snow day, I have been cooking up a hearty meal, in my new modern, Amish wood burning oven. The food aromas are filling the house of fresh baked blue berry muffins, home fries and eggs and southern smoked ham. A pot of coffee brewing and the water is starting to boil in the tea pot.
The children are still all snuggled in their beds, but their tummies are realizing what is going down stairs, in the kitchen,. Staying in bed is becoming more difficult as their slumber is interrupted by hunger pangs. They are not yet ready to get out from under their warm quilts into the brisk cool house. The quilts were not home made, but their mom lovingly selected each one from JC Pennies, for each of their rooms decor.
Dad has been outside since 5:30 this morning, working in the barn, feeding the animals their grain and making sure the hay in the stalls is ample for the cold day. The prediction is more snow today. He doesn't mind the snow, as much as the blowing wind and ice.
Now the teapot whistles, time to ring the breakfast bell, which is out side, next to the door so all I have to do is open the door on the porch with out putting on my coat. As I reach to pull the string, I see the barn door opening, and think to myself, "How did he know that breakfast was ready?
The kids are racing each other down the stairs, before I can even get back to the kitchen. "Good morning mom, good morning mommy", good morning mother, the three say in three different ways, showing their own personalities in each salutation. Just as the last one is said, Dad steps in and hears the happiness that is filling the room, with laughter, and kindness, and a smile crosses his face. Life is good in the Cabin.

Cahas Rural Historic District, located near Roanoke Valley. Dream Cabin built on the 50 Acres using the natural resources of the timber and spring water would be someone dream come true.
