Just moved into a house with a rock wall and fireplace. Previous fires and lack of care for the chimney have left a soot trail going up the wall about 4 feet. What is the best way to clean this? I am assuming that once I clean the areas covered in soot, the rest of the wall will look dirty. How do I clean the whole wall quickly and with the least amount of mess. I thought about power washing, but I think I would do water damage to the rest of the room. Any ideas would be appreciated!
