Front Porch Makeover Help!, The front of my mother's house needs a major makeover! I want to alter the front porch and re-enforce it (termites ate part of the posts and railing). The look I am trying to get is more of a California Bungalow feel. Right now the there is no character or charm and this house sticks out like a sore thumb in this neightborhood. Any suggestions appreciated!!, Home Exterior
What to do with asphalt shingle siding, The asphalt shingles are in good shape...we have no idea what is underneath, and looks like a lot of work to remove. We are replacing windows and will have window frames wrapped...We can take off some shingles but not all. Any advice on colors or what to remove or anything! We live in an old historic neighborhood and this is definately the ugliest house on the street., Home Exterior
UGLY 70's home, The exterior of my home is ugly and dated. New siding and a front porch addition is on my list. Need help with front porch design that incorporates existing clear story windows. Because of our rustic setting, I'm thinking of board & batten siding with stone veneer accents. Would like some heavy timber posts for the patio supports. Want to get rid of the window bump outs that serve no purpose. The original diagonal cedar siding was painted over a couple of times by previous owners & it's now peeling. I can't figure out how to incorporate a patio overhang with the existing front entry and need help!, Home Exterior
rebuilding. , my great grandmothers died at 94. she lived in this house almost all her life. my grandmother was born in the front bedroom and now lives next door. after my great grand mother sarah died the house gave up. it was falling apart. my mom age 50 proudly works herself into exhaustion pulling it apart and replacing termite infested lumber.we have about 8 thousand dollars to fix this house (money which i got as a result of a car accident). we hope its enough but when your doing all the work yourself and with the help of a few friends, money just disappears. mom owns a kennel and raises little doggies... my boyfriend, my two brothers, my sister in law and I all work together at an Italian restaurant to support each other and take care of our mother who took such good care of us. my great grandma sarah would be proud of us. , Home Exterior
Side Addition Curb Appeal, Help! I need some ideas to make the side addidion pop! Planning on bricking the bottom front up to the window and brick the front and rear corner, red brick. What do I do about the ugly top portion and area around the window? Some type of siding with moldings?, Home Exterior
Ugly Brick & New Siding Help, I'm trying to figure out what we should do when we go to replace our worn siding next summer. We will be keeping the brick, but it is ugly. The two colors are brown and orange. They are dyed (my assumption is they were dyed when they were made since the bricks are one solid color- no flecks or anything). I was considering doing a brick stain to make the brick less offensive. I'm not finding any pictures or information on brick and siding color schemes. If I dyed the brick, what color family should I be going for and what siding colors would work with it? Anyone think I should keep the brick as is? What siding colors would go with that?

If at all possible, I'd like to avoid the colors used across from our house and on either side: light blue, bright baby blue, light khaki.

Thanks!
